Thanks for explaining how they work. Still find cryptic clues really baffling
Looks like a very difficult one to tackle if you don't know how cryptic crosswords work
4 Iffy. Platen - the paper roller on a typewriter
Paten sounds like pattern with L(awrence)
//Filling Oriental credit card against salesman's return//
Has anyone solved this one yet?
Have been trying to get a word ending with 'per' (rep reversed) and including 'cc' for credit card and maybe 'ori' for Orient
I've been trying the same as you elliemay. Per at the end but with E for Oriental as well as Asian, Chinese etc.
Thanks for replying , cashier. There's not much traffic on Crosswords etc today so have been devoting spare time to this qn and it's frustrating, wish someone would solve it!
That's why I looked when I saw your name. I thought thank goodness elliemay has got it and then I read what you wrote!
Could really do with Kath coming back hopefully with a letter pattern.
I think it’s PERVASIVE

E - oriental
VISA - credit card
V - against
REP - salesman

…reversed.

Not a great definition of ‘filling’ though.
Sounds right, scrunge, thank you

Its a skeleton style crossword so there' s not even numbers to the clues to help place the answers
Have you finished it yet Kath or would you like to post some more qns?
