This question was raised in earlier posts but wasn't conclusively answered. Can anyone help.

If you suffered from xenoglossophobia (fear of foreign languages) and chionophobia (fear of snow) where would you be least at home: Greenland, Vanuatu or Libya?

Thanks. Allyson

Greenland appears the obvious answer, but it may be worth checking if the highlands of the other countries have a snow-cap. Good luck.

Yes I came to that conclusion after I'd posted. I was looking for multiple languages rather than where English was least likely to be spoken.

Thanks for your reply.

What about Switzerland? Has snow, and 4 languages (French, Italian, German, Romansch).
A very odd question this!. Some thoughts - A fear of snow alone makes the obvious answer Greenland which by number of days of snow and area of the country covered it is way ahead of the others. I guess the fear of foreign languages isnt about the number of languages spoken, one foreign language one is enough for the phobia. Its surely about the % of the population who dont speak English? I cant find an answer to this one.
I always get one question wrong in the Times Christmas quiz this could be it for 2005!

Got it I think.

It's not the number of languages that are spoken in Greenland that are relevant, but which language/s.

Eskimo.

What does popular legend say about eskimo? - That there are dozens of different words for snow.....
