I had the first digit as 3. But I don't get the second: what's your logic for the second one?

Indeed Clare- so was I. And there may well be, but nowhere does it say that all the numbers relate to properties of the dice, so I think it’s an acceptable answer. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best!
