it is a request, when the quiz comes out the compilers job is finished, i then pay my admission money and from then it is up to me how i answer the questions not the compiler; in this case where the answers are all from southern scotland i need help simply because i do not live in scotland, there has been someone helping me who actually lives in the borders area and even they have had trouble answering them, sometimes in life or indeed quizzes you need some help and a quiz compiler has no right to ask anybody not to seek help when needed, i have paid my money to and for their cause

by the way are you a self appointed captain, captain, you are certainly not my captain. this is an answerbank site  except all you seem to do is question and not answer

Question Author

hello, mallyh, thank-you for your answers, i did think of coldstream but did not see how it fits in with flower

Why did you need to be so evasive about naming the quiz and closing date?

If you had done so, answerers could have made their own mind up about whether to answer or not.

For what is worth, hops, I never said you couldn't ask questions. All I've asked for are the details of the Quiz as per point No2 on this site's guidelines:

2.    Enter the name of the Quiz/Puzzle in the Question title field and please don't forget to add a closing date if one is applicable!

You go whichever way you want. :))

the word flower is used a LOT in quizzes. A flower is for e.g. a tulip, whereas a flow-er is a river.

Question Author

understood, i have put coldstream now, thank-you the winner, i thought mallyh would be right, but she did put a question mark against it i am left with numbers 2, 5 and7

one of the alias names for voldemort was dark lord but i cannot get anything to resemble this

HOPS, I'm not bothered about the no asking but the fact the answers are, "towns, villages or hamlets in Berwickshire, Peeblesshire, Roxburghshire, & Selkirkshire." would have helped others who were looking to help you and saved them searching in the wrong counties.

Voldetmort's original surname was Riddle (Tom Marvolo Riddle) and RIDDELL is in Roxburghshire.

2 GREENS is in Roxburghshire

Question Author

thank- you for your two answers, corby, yes fair enough on your other point. and then there was one no.7

Hmm  .. Just noticed, Hops, that the quiz questions you "inadvertently" put in News Section yesterday were from a "No Asking" quiz.  Now I see these + others have been moved to Q & P. You were asked for details of the quiz by several people (including myself) but ignored the request. This quiz was advertised on AB last Thursday and is not to be in until mid January 2024.  I don't want to get involved in a discussion whether asking is right or wrong as this is a Question & Answer site but I wonder why you bought and attempted to do a quiz about an area of UK you were not acquainted with and then have to ask others for help so soon?  I have in the past done quizzes on Lincolnshire and Yorkshire (areas I don't know) and have found it satisfying to search/find the answers myself. I don't know how many questions are on this quiz but fifteen or so have been answered already!!  By the way, I did enjoy solving some of the anagrams (difficult as they were) even though they took up most of my evening!   Good luck with the rest of the quiz!
