KitimatThis word means 'people of the falling snow' in the Tsmishian language. The town of Kitimat grew in the 1950's when an Aluminum company opened there. It is located in an inlet on the
coast of British Colombia. The Kitimat native people speak Haisla and are related to the Keitsuk and Kwakiuti people. There is a village of the Haisla people called the Kimitaat Village. Most of the Haisla speakers are middle-aged and older.
