Most people go for one with a lot of vowels in it.

Gromit I am sure that you are right - but no hints for others that are still to do the puzzle please!

Incidentally I have a different starter word each day as I learnt that the same starter word with loads of vowels will normally let you solve in 3 or 4. To solve in 2 you need a word very similar to the answer and that doesn't normally have a lot of vowels!
