...what food might you try again?

I'd still avoid toffee.  The last one I ate pulled a filling out.

I'd like to try a couple of crubeens (pigs feet) for old times sake.

Still have all my own teeth but steer clear of sweets as much as I can.  Now I'd love a gobstopper!

I'm very lucky to still have all my own teeth (bar one crown) and can tuck in to pretty much anything I fancy...and that's all with NHS dentistry.

It's likely that the avoidance of sweets saved your teeth.

A gobstopper once in a while wouldn't do much harm.

Cadbury's Eclairs. I love them but they pulled one of my crowns out so I don't tough them anymore. To be fair, it must have been dodgy anyway, but still.

touch not tough

Only teeth I dont have are two wisdom teeth that didnt come through properly.  No proper fillings - never even had an injection.

But not keen on sweet stuff so I guess thats helped.

I cracked my tooth on pork crackling & later had to have it removed.

It's a shame we can't get our second set of teeth at 60 rather than six! They would be much more useful! 🤪

pigs' trotters we called them. Very gelatinous. Bone surrounded by jelly. Suck the juice off and throw the bones away.

"Nobody loves me, everybody hates me, think I'll go and eat worms.

Bite their heads off, suck their juice out, throw their skins
away.

la da dy dah dah, la da dy dah dah, worms three times a day."

(I forgot some of the words.)

^^^  Brownies are bloodthirsty minors!  :)

The last toffee I ate  (chocolate eclair) broke a crown.

Latest dental visit reported 'Good oral health regime', but I now take care.

Re. OP, probably plot toffee.

We used to have penny chews, threepenny slabs, and we didn't half suck and chew them and wash them down with pop (sugar water). Teeth rotted and fell out. Most adults in those days had all their teeth pulled out for their twenty-first birthday and those denture sets which clacked around the table were not as silly a joke as the old comedy shows make them out to be.
