Brexit – Are You One Of The Deluded?

Sir Alan Sugar said Brexit is the biggest disaster in his whole lifetime; he also said that those people responsible for Brexit, based on lies should be in prison.

He went on to say that Brexit was a total absolute disaster and anyone who says it’s not is deluded.

The interviewer asked Alan what the thought it would take to get this country growing again – to which he replied; for the UK to get down on bended knees and beg to be allowed back in (to the EU).  At this the interviewer said they didn’t associate him with begging – to which Alan responded; exactly that’s how bad it is.

Quite how anyone could think that Brexit is a success, when a prominent businessman’s view is that it is a total absolute disaster, is beyond me.

This may have the usual suspects tying themselves in knots given the support for The Donald and his business expertise.

A home-grown success story should surely attract the same respect for his considered opinion.

If we could leave the Covid vaccine development stuff alone for this one and concentrate on everyday real life it might be helpful to move things along.

what about Trump, come on Hymie!

I would obviously cede to Lord Sugar's business expertise, but a lot of people voted in the belief that wr would extricate the nation from European Human Rights legislation.

Sadly, we are still waiting.

That said, I would never be willing to engage in an organisation taking vast amounts of money, while simultaneously regarding us with the deepest contempt.

"That said, I would never be willing to engage in an organisation taking vast amounts of money, while simultaneously regarding us with the deepest contempt."

Successive UK governments then. 😐

Douglas - that's democracy in action.

There is nothing democratic about the operation of the EU.

Lord Sugar is a grown man who spends most of his time making a television programme all about how wonderful and clever he is... he only ever gives soft-touch interviews with people who are deferential and even reverent towards him. he does not care about the country... he cares about himself.

politics is not business and businessmen should in my view be kept away from it. it does not tend to end well. his suggestion that the UK beg tombe let back into the EU is a good example of his political ignorance.

i have never understood why businessmen are so frequently treated as though the sun shines from their bottom. i find the worship of merchants to be repulsive.

“….but a lot of people voted in the belief that wr would extricate the nation from European Human Rights legislation.”

Why would that be Andy? As far as I can recall, here was never any indication of that in the run up to the referendum (as of course here should not have been as the ECHR has nothing to do with the EU).

“Sir Alan Sugar said Brexit is the biggest disaster in his whole lifetime;”

Then he needs to get out more to broaden his horizons. He might meet some people who have faced real disaster. A good start would be to spend less time making inane TV programmes.

Bread and circuses.

English Tories and Scottish SNPers brought us Brexit.Farage and Johnson on the right-wing,Corbyn and Mick Lynch on the left-wing.A plague on all their houses.

ynnafymmi, you'll need to be getting a new record, the grooves on that one are worn out...

29% of SNP voters voted for Brexit,TCL,only 27% of Scottish Tory voters voted for Brexit, only 19% of Scottish Labour voters voted for Brexit.Looks like the SNPers have a lot to answer for.

It's just a garbled noise now, I did warn you...

Please yersel,TCL,but as Burns said-"facts are chiels that winna ding".

What has Sugar ever ahieved in business.

A computer which never really took off.

A football club still suffering from the aftermath of his chairmanship.

A TV show where many of his "rejects" have been successful.

Obviously a bloke to turn to for "expert" opinion.

Just one Remoaner's view !

ynnafymmi, your argument is 29% of SNP voters are said to have voted to leave and "have a lot to answer for".

Given that every Scottish authority voted to remain, if 100% of SNP voters had voted to remain, would the UK be in the EU still?

Hymie, I think if people watched the programme they would seriously reconsider their position.. for those able to watch listen and learn it could maybe, just maybe stop their delusion.

The programme: Amol Rajan Interviews, it was on BBC2. I recommend looking it up on the iPlayer, there are several other very interesting interviews there worth watching.

Question Author

Many posts (above) are rubbishing Sugar’s views, claiming him to be no big shakes in business.

But if I were a Brexiteer (acknowledging what a success Brexit is), I would be asking why is it that Sugar cannot see unicorns prancing on the sunlit uplands (does he not own a pair of rose-tinted glasses) – how could someone be so wrong, claiming this is the biggest disaster in his lifetime (and he’s lived through a number of Labour governments)?

I hope Sugar dies soon - seriously!

Sounds like Alan simply proving how out of reality his views tend to be. Surprisingly he seems to have got away with it over the years. Must have a guardian angel keeping an eye on him.
