If you measure at right angles through Truro from the North to the South Cornish coast you get the same result. I think it's Truro!
I'm only a few miles from Truro so I'll leap out now with my string and a pin and my helicopter and see if you're right.... :O) Thanks but I think (with some Cornish assistance) we've established it is Lanivet.... I'm from Yorkshire originally and proud of it but I can't (and daren't) argue with a Cornishman in his own county ;O)
wow reddoggy - never heard a Yorkshireman say that before! So you must be a lady from Yorkshire. Oh the power of lateral thinking! I'm sure that Lanivet is correct BUT don't forget - since the Celtic monastery was built there has probably been a fair amount of coastal erosion!! Ok - I'll go back top bed!! :o)
Hope you slept well and believe me, you don't argue with a Cornishman, I know, I married one and I'm the most argumentative Yorkshire lass that ever lived ;o) Re. the coastal erosion, I got an old map of Cornwall, enlarged it and spread it over the county with the help of some Cornish piskies - it's still Lanivet - the build-up of sand dunes on the north coast makes up for the erosion on the south.... or something ;O)
that goes to prove you just cannot trust coastal erosion any more! Well reddoggy, the sheer terrifying combination of yorkshirewoman and cornish piskies (are they the ones you can dunk in your coffee?!) has me beat! The fight has been beaten out of me! I give in! It's Lanivet! But it's been fun! Thank you.
