It is amazing how many correspondents ask questions that are so easily available on Google, you just type in certain words and the answer is there! What is so hard about it? Some questions are so childish it is unbelievable! Answerbank would be less congested if a little common sense was used!

Hear hear - I've been saying this for months, as you may know. Easier, quicker, and no-one seeing just how dumb you are! Some people will just never understand the point of this site.
just idle.
There is also Chambers wordgames (solves anagrams, put in letters and ??s to solve words etc.
Also online are chambers reference books (crossword and theauraus etc.)
My other bug is about people posting questions that have already been answered - sometimes on the same day

Generally speaking I only do the DTGK on a Saturday (I find the Saturday paper just about gets me through the week. They should sell it by weight!!!)

I get a great deal of pleasure using my own brain, crossword solver, reference books dictionaries, Google and, as a last resort the good friends on Q&P.

By the time I get round to asking Q&P it has to be late on Sunday. I am astonished to see lists of questions have been asked, many of them A.M hours on Saturday. I realise many people do crosswords to send in for winning a prize, I do so myself if I complete it in time. But, surely to goodness the main reason for doing a GK crossword is for the pure pleasure and curiousity to find interesting results?

What effort has been put in by those with their lists at 11am on a Saturday morning? Maybe there should be a voluntary moritorium by members not to answer any questions until the day following publication. At least it might force some people into stretching their brain, even by a little bit!!!

There is a similar problem with the prize postal quizzes. Despite requests by some of the organisers some of the entrants still post the questions on this site. Those very questions can often be answered by the use of a search engine. It seems to me, that to some, the modern way of completing quizzes and crosswords is to get someone else to do all the work for you so that they can lazily fill in the answers. Still the entrants who do that will never have the pride and satisfaction of knowing that it was due to their own efforts.
On rec.puzzles.crosswords there is a convention that no-one asks about prize crosswords until after the closing date. By and large it's observed.
It seems to me that it is usually the same people who actually supply the answers to these morons. Do they get some kind of buzz out of appearing to be knowledgable? It would help if these ridiculous questions were left unanswered.
Well its pretty obvious that most people just want a chat as well. I think thats why.
Bondy, that's what Chatterbank is for?
You lot should lighten up a little bit. I won't spend any more time trying to reason with you as I'm to busy cribbing answers that I can't be bothered to research myself. With the small hope of winning monies that should rightly belong to you guys. Good Luck!!
I just checked questions asked by "Mallen" he or she posted 18 questions on three consecutive pages on the 31/1/2005,
sorry 2006
