Feb quizmail 149 - Karl Landsteiner

Has anybody else noticed that Q149 is asking for the name this scientist was born with. I have got as far as karl Landsteiner but despite looking at lots of various sources cannot find a record of any change of name.


Can anyone help please

Yes, I think this one is causing some concern. His father was called Landsteiner so obviously you think this is the name he was born with. Haven't found anything different myself.

Neither have I, and I've looked at loads of sites. Reference library calls, I think.
Maybe he was brought up with his mothers name ?

I thought about his mother's name as well, but can't find anything to verify this.

This refers to his mother Fanny Hess.
