I'm stuck on the "common" words - all of which have the word "ten" in them - I'm sure I'll feel foolish but:-


"took the bait"; "appealing or attractive" and "the locking pieces of a mechanism"

"took the bait" is probably just bitten



"the locking pieces of a mechanism" = fasteners ?

"appealing or attractive" could be ten as in the film 10, starring Dudley Moore and Bo Derek.
