I know it is Mendeleev but that is only 9 letters. I have 24 Down as Oxeye and 5 Down as Strathclyde but this would mean Mendeleev is spelt Mendeleeev? This can't be right surely? Please help.

Thanks Brainiac, this certainly now fits. I'd never encountered his name spelt this way but I googled it and there are dozens of sites. Although, in fairness to me there are dozens of sites with it spelt the other way too.
