Thank you quizmonkey.Also wheelbrace.I understand epagoge but not how you arrived at durer?I have just solved 22down.Monteverdi's first name was claudio.cl+audio.Therefore I have for 21across --t-c-- which i feel must be optical but not sure.Still stuck on 17across.I have g-l-o--.Have you got 12 across?

i think 21a. is reticle which is to do with sight.I also think that 21d is rhizome old verse is rhime or rime.and rhizome is a stem. 24a could be cubit. cub for son and cubit is a measure of distance.17a is still a problem and i would love the answer to 8 down.All guess work and I always like confirmation before puttin the answers in the grid.12 a has just been posted as carib.ca+rib?
