Was it Bob Monkhouse?
Jackie Rae ?
I think it was Bob Monkhouse. The Golden Shot.

According to Google Jackie Rae was the first host of The Golden Shot

See: www.nostalgiacentral.com/tv/variety/goldenshot.htm

It looks like it was Bob Monkhouse after all.
Question Author

Yes - Bob Monkhouse, thanks for the answers, I said Jacki Rae in a competition and it was wrong, but was convinced I was right - but I wasn't!!

I'm pretty sure it was Bob Monkhouse too. I read his biography some time ago and think the programme originated maybe from Germany where it was something like Fritz the Bolt!!!!
Although Jackie Rae was the first host of the Golden Shot, the armourer at that time was known as "Heinz" and "Heinz, the bolt!" was the phrase used. It was only when Bob Monkhouse took over in 1967 and a new armourer employed, that it changed to "Bernie, the bolt!"
This was a fun show I was a contestant in 1973 on the golden shot, when charlie williams was the host. I Would love to see it come back (I won the silver prize)
