A frozen food truck has to arrive at the shop at exactly 11.00AM if it travels at 30 mph it arrives at 10.00AM if it travels at 20 mph it arrives at noon which would be too late what speed must it travel at to arrive at 11.00am

24 miles per hour

Travel time (30mph) = T

Then travel time (20mph) = T+2

Given that distance travelled = speed x time ie s=vt then

as the distance is constant 30T = 20(T+2)

T=4 hours and T+2 = 6h therefore distance = 4x 30 = 120 miles

For journey time of 5hours speed = distance/ time

= 120/5 = 24mph

20 mph - and set off an hour earlier! (Female logic)

Truck Speed thank you for your answers and explanations especially to Dustybun does leaving an hour earlier give you time to put your makeup on whilst driving(what a sexist pig I am)
