I see it slightly different.

dont eat = keep off
food etc is your board .or KEEP
no longer fresh OFF

'don't eat' does not mean 'starve yourself' here. It's more like saying 'to keep my weight down I keep off the cakes'!! Does that make more sense tawemanic?
