It takes 8 minutes for light from the sun to reach the Earth, which means that it travels very fast but exactly how fast does darkness travel?

er ... I don't think it does ???
Since darkness is the absence of light, it travels at exactly the the same speed as light. If the sun went out NOW! Melbourne would get the blackout in eight minutes time.
Why just Melbourne Marsh?

Does Melbourne have some cosmic significance that the rest of us are unaware of?

What do the people of Sydney think of this?

I think they have the right to be told.
Perhaps, if it is the opposite of light, darkness moves at NEGATIVE c?

"Lght"is just a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum. "Darkness" is simply the condition under which those parts of the spectrum visible to humans are not available to us to view. Radiation is still all around us, still travelling "at the speed of light." So, the answer to your question is:

298,000 miles per second.

Give or take a few seconds.

Sorry

Give or take a few miles

Dark is nothing at all, a vacuum and the medium photons and electro magnetic waves travel in. The speed of both is exactly the same and is: 186,282.397 miles per second, in metric it is 299,792.4579 Km per second. ... Is John Lambert the chap that sold me an MBM88 in 1983?

I beg your pudding.

Was getting my miles and kilometres mixed up. I blame it on the Retzina.
