Possible

I agree that Possible fits in but how can it relate to the clue? The highest score is the Maximum i.e 147 in snooker 180 darts etc!
There has been earlier postings on this. I agree, I couldn't see the connection, but if you go back to some earlier answers, it is explained a bit more. Good luck.

Thanks

I couldn't see why possible was the answer. I must have missed the previous posts. I will have a look now.

I have heard commentators talk about someone scoring 140 out of a possible 147.

I have just realised that 147 is the maximum break in snooker but not the Posible highest score! With a free ball the possible score could be over 150!

Sorry Linda this is on your post!

Well if it's any help Linda I put pastiche...as in a musical score.

Thanks, everyone. Still not sure what to put but will make my decision later when I get ready to send it off! Sometimes wonder why I bother though as i really don't want to win a fountain pen, though a book token is always welcome!
A bit late, I know, as I haven't had to call on the combined talents of the Answerbank this week (for a change!), but as a regular shooter I can confirm that the highest score is referred to as a possible, or "poss".
I did wonder how many people would get that one!
Thanks, Lancsquiz, I posted an answer yesterday saying that according to Chambers a 'possible' was 'the highest possible score in shooting'. Glad to have it confirmed.
