Hi again lelliej
I am stuck on 56A,40d and 42D
Help much appreciated.

56a is HAND GRENADE - anagram of ANDORANGEHED, with the duck (the O) removed

40d I think is CHRONICLE, but I can only see a chronicle being a record, plus the letters of line are in there

42d I think is INFERTILE, to gather is to infer, is there a hat called a tile, or vice versa ?

Oops, forgot - 56a - pineapple is (American ?) slang for a hand grenade.
Many thanks JerryB and also to you lelliej for letting me hijack your thread.
