I have two questions and two answers but they don't fit in the crossword together.

Personal fodder from the face (4-4,6) S_L_-F_E_,_ _ _A_E (self-feed, forage) (think first words are right but not sure about second word, the answer to my next question would make the second letter of the second word I, was thinking silage but what does that have to do with face?)

Stuff that stops a plant growing (9) _ _H_B_T_R (inhibitor)?

self feed silage is the probable answer , just google self feed silage + faces . there IS a connection , but cant say for definite what it is ..

Yes, I think you are right, beer-belly. Self-feed silage is done from a face (whatever that is) and inhibitor is right.

I have sent my crossword in with both answers. My husband (farmer) assures me that self feed silage is correct.
Do you also do the Farmers Weekly crossword. If so I need 15 across and 5 down which cross each other, Can you help please?. I usually send in F G and have won several times but have never won Farmers Weekly and would like the prize.
