I think the skittles answer is "a strike", if you mean that all the pins were knocked down with one ball, and the second ball wasn't needed.
Hmm, not sure about the skittles answer. In ten-pin bowling you get to bowl 2 balls at each set of pins. If you knock them all down with the first ball, it's a strike. If you need the second ball to finish them off, and do so, it's a spare. Whether or not this terminology applies equally to skittles, I don't know.
I play skittles in the summer league and we call it a spare
