We have thought of apply, aptly, spell but can't see why any of them fit (or anything else for that matter).

spell? definition of "time" and spell out the letters in a word

Hi cheaton - I reckon 'Spell' for 'Time' (eg a short spell), then 'Identify all characters' is 'Spell', ABC etc. ja
