Q52 Give the surname of the first British television newsreader to be knighted ?

I realise that this question has been posted before and clues were given,but I cannot get beyond the one who was knighted in 1981,whereas somebody has one knighted in 1980.Help,please

Thank you for your reply.That is the answer I have at present and is the newsreader who was knighted in 1981,so unless I find the one who was knighted in 1980,that's what my answer will be

This newsreader was knighted in 1980 and went on to gain a really important post in broadcasting.

Thank you both for your responses.I have googled as suggested and would be inclined to discount him,especially after listening to the query line.That still leaves me with 1981 man ( who may not qualify as a newsreader ) or 1984 man,who does.Ho-Hum
