14A Insult from Labour's leader etc - has to be SLUR but why? Can someone erudite out there explain? Hate putting in answers I can't work out.. thanks.

Is the clue exactly as you have posted it ? Ending with leader etc. ? Like you i'm puzzled. Thanks

Hiya kayakamina. Full clue is "Insult from Labour's leader - Rene's on about it! " I have ? L ? R , which makes me think SLUR but don't know WHY!!

Very cryptic Labour= L Rene (a frenchman ) would have SUR for on about it. So S L UR

Kayakamina you're a wizard! Even my convoluted brain couldn't have worked that one out - but it now makes (sort of) sense! You need to have a pretty good knowledge of french to associate "sur" with english "on about" Thanks, now let's find a stamp.
