Any CLUE would be appreciated.
A European peninsula derives its name from the ancient name of the longest river which flows through the largest modern day country which is part of that peninsula. What, as used in English, is the modern name of that river.

Hi shammydodger, many thanks for a very quick reply.
The only reservation I would have about this particular answer (the Ebro) is that Googlifaction suggests it is only the second longest river in Spain.

I think that the Ebro is the longest river wholly in Spain although I could be wrong
