Yes - kayakamina - that is exactly what I am saying. Somebody doing a crossword can surely wait for the answers can't they? What is the hurry? Where is patience? Where is the need to find answers now rather than wait a few days? Nothing on this portion of the site is so important that once a deadline has been passed for entry a person cannot wait a little while to get the answers.

The underlying irritation for some ABers is that for the most popular xwords e.g. Telegraph Weekend GK ....

the questions are asked time and time again and clutter up the site ...........

The irritation is expanded because there is a Search Facility seemingly for the very purpose of looking to see if your Question has been asked before and answered ...

AND when you post a question you are directed to a list of similar questions and asked asked to review .... before posting your own question?

OH - and having raised this matter very publicly in a message to the Editor (only last week) after a dozen or so ABers also indicated frustration - so far no reply .............

I do not set out to be rude or to offend other ABers ..... BUT, the site is being abused by the non-use of the Search and by the non-use of the Review before you post your own Question ----- if it is not non-use then the site facilities (Search and Review) are NOT working as intended and the Editor needs to look at options ..... like getting his techies to do something!!

Sorry - thought the clues were from Sunday's paper, which has a Friday deadline.

In any event, the whole point of the site is to ask questions and get answers - irrespective of the date the answers are published.

From what you say I don't think this is the site for you and you would probably be happier elsewhere.
The site is 'Answer Bank' and persons with questions on quizzes and puzzles post here for an answer. People enjoy asking and receiving answers regardless of when the solutions will be published. After all some publiacations are monthlies!
The questions are sometimes simple but in many cases are complex and the questioner learns far more from a fully explained answer than they ever would waiting for the published solution.
I see you have only been with us a short time but already your contribution has been negative and sniding and you add nothing to the site.

But why pander to those who cannot wait a few days for a solution? I am not against anybody GIVING the answers to the questions asked - most of us like to help others - but surely one has every right to ask why a person cannot be just a little patient and wait for an answer - it is not as though its life and death is it?

How is it negative kayakamina? How am I snide? This was NOT a monthly - or I would have said nothing. This was a person asking for answers which would be given in the paper in two days. You are right - this site is not for me when you would rather pick on me than stand out against those who are wasting your time and others because they simply cannot be bothered to wait a few days.

I agree with what you say kayakamina .... and also would pick up on your reference to 'Answer Bank' ...... and emphasise that the site name is Anser BANK ...... how many times do you have to put the same deposit (Answer) into the Bank .............. ? ..... when you are giving TWO opportunities to see if your Question has already posted and been answered? and for these questions there are plenty of references to when they were asked and answered earlier!

Quite ..lighten up goldenfield ...it's only a crossword ..hardly a matter to get yourself stirred up over ....repeated Q's are a pain ..but that's life ..and as I have said before the search facility can be a bit of a nightmare ..we're not all computer experts .
People are starving in Africa and being killed in the Middle East.Gordon Brown is taxing us out of existence and you have nothing else to whinge about ?

I have done nothing to you yet you have made it your business to make comments about me - just because I dare to suggest that someone have the patience to wait a few days rather than waste others time?
