It definitely is ambrose - It allows partners to select the best positioned ball when playing with a partner.

so it is a golFing term .... helps with the correct spelling

Sorry to all who were offended by my spelling mistake (obviously, they are not allowed here!).....
and thanks to those who knew the answer was AMBROSE. Not only could I not find it in a dictionary, but several golf web sites didn't include it in their list of golfing terms!
