Having checked the names and addresses of various alleged winners in telephone directories, and not found them, I am beginning to wonder whether anyone actually wins? Or are they all ex-directory?

YES but it must have been about 15 years ago, and
yes I am ex-directory
I won on the Sunday telegraph GK crossword last year. I too am ex directory
it's about time the law was changed to stop this ex-directory nonsense
I disagree with sincnoel, you obviously have NOT got
annoying calls
I have won the mondays prize (not the money) just the book twice I might add I am ex directory too
jan
I have won and been a runner-up in the Saturday General Knowledge Crossword over the past few years. I have also been a runner-up in the Saturday Cryptic. I am yet to win any big money prizes; these are mainly for general knowledge crosswords. Cryptic prizes are generally reference books or a pen. Any prize is always welcome! Good luck in the future!
Oh, and by the way, I am ex-directory.
I won a runner-up prize from Saturday's GK crossword last year (a Telegraph quiz book) but I'm NOT ex-directory.
I have won both saturday cryptic and Sunday telegraph from 1960s onwards - only playing cards and book tokens.
Latest ones within last three years before changes to Sunday telegraph.

I am ex-directory and have lived at different addresses over the last 40 years.
I have won the 200 and the Whitaker's Almanac in the Saturday Telegraph (in 1999) and I am not ex-directory. I have also won prizes from the Independent and the Guardian. ( I have entered hundreds of times when I have not won!)
I have been a runner-up twiice in DT cryptic and I am not ex-directory
I won the Saturday cryptic once, but it cost me more in postage then the prize.
I have won The Times x 2, FT x 2 but never Telegraph altho' I send in Sat's cryptic most weeks. Think they get thousands more than The Times.

Instead of being ex-D I have signed up to the Mail and Telephone Preference Service http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/ you can sign up online and it's free and it stops 99% of calls and mail.
Last year I won 200 and a Whitaker's Almanac from the Telegraph. Two weeks ago I won the fountain pen but the Telegraph forgot to print the winners' names!

Congratulations smiffy. Perhaps I was wrong to question the Telegraph's propriety. However, it seems the printers (NOT, I think, the compiler) are ensuring they don't have to pay out too often on Herculis!
