Won 10 book token Saturday DT cryptic. Very pleased it wasn't the first prize which was a fountain pen. Is it just me that thinks that these pens are a waste of time and that book tokens are preferable? I'm going to write to the Daily & Sunday Telegraph to express that view.

Well done dwil.

Brilliant! Well done...depends on individuals I suppose..I write my personal letters with a fountain pen still, as I like to, but am sure not many do now.
Anyway at least another winner on AB...great!
Yes, well done dwil but I cannot quite see your reasoning why you didn't want to win the pen. You would certainly get more than 10 for it were you to sell it (on ebay for example) and could then buy more books (or anything else) than you can with your token. Personally I have ben trying to win the pen for years so I hope the Telegraph continues with it.
congratulations! hope you get a good book with your token heres to many more wins, are the drinks on you tonight?

Well done dwil ..mines a large gin !!
Well done dwil, I have entered many times over the years but never won. Is it me or has this particular x word got more difficult of late?
Nice "won" dwil!
Congratulations!
My husband does the Cryptic and I do the General Knowledge. He would be happy with any prize (he has never won to date) but I think a book token is a good idea, as one tends to have a pen already.
Yes, well done.

When (if) lucky enough to win, I want the fountain pen to replace the one I received on my 18th birthday, which has sadly died. It had only had two new barrels and three nibs when it completely gave up. I wouldn't have minded, but I did my A and S levels with it, and my degree, so it has a history ....
I won the Telegraph 'super' pen a couple of years ago. It's nothing special and I find it 'scratchy' and prefer my Parker pen. I'd much rather have won the book token.
I surprisingly won the fountain pen a few years ago (but nothing since) and wouldn't sell it for anything. I find it an excellent quality pen.

Congratulations dwil, it's always nice to hear of someone having a win, however , having won this pen myself, I really don't understand your attitude toward this prize.
I find it a very well made piece of equipment and a constant reminder of my win, I'm sure there are lots of puzzlers who would appreciate it. Are you really going to suggest to the newspaper that no-one else be allowed to win the pen? surely not.

I'm very pleased to have won anything and I was really guaging people's thoughts on the prize before/if I wrote. I didn't realize so many people put such a store on fountain pens not having used one myself for many years so I won't bother writing. I agree it's a nice reminder of one's success - it's just a personal view that I prefer tokens. Yes Alibobs I think the crossword has got more difficult over the past 6 months.
