I think the answer to the first of your number/letter questions above may be:
"11 sailing categories at the olympics".
There are actually nine separate categories, but two of these are separated into competitions for either men or for women, giving eleven in total.

Not sure where the rest of the flower clue comes in, but adder is another word for summer and Chambers has adderswort and adderstongue as plants.
