Are Billy_Bonka and his ilk right?
3 Answers
I would be grateful if you would spare me five minutes of your time before I leave this site. First a little tale. A neighbour, who you have never met, comes to your door and asks for a mug of coffee. Being kind, you invite her in and put on the kettle. When handed her coffee, the woman asks if she can have a biscuit. You say by all means and get her a few. Your visitor eats these and asks for some more. You get her more and she eats her way through these too. She then asks for yet more and you place the remaining few from the pack on her plate, which she consumes also. The neighbour then finishes her coffee and gets up to leave. You are curious and ask her why she wanted so many biscuits - she replies "I always have ten biscuits with my coffee", and then adds "but if anybody comes to my house, I don't have time to make them coffee and give them biscuits!". In my opinion, that is what Billy_Bonka is like. He asks, from greed alone, for many answers (14, 15 and 19 on three days alone). When challenged he says, "I HAVE to do 12 prize crosswords a week - but do not ask me to answer any questions - I do not have the time to sit around answering questions from others - and I probably couldn't anyway"

I do three crosswords a week but am more than willing to try and see if I can help others with these (or other quizzes and puzzles) - does it seem right to anybody that Billy_Bonka, with his twelve crosswords, would not be able anybody? And there are other portions of the site in which he could help others.
You may ask why is this important, after all its just a question and answer site. My answer to that is that it still shows what a person is like in society. Billy_Bonka and his ways of working show that he is a 'me, me, me, take, take take' type of person, not just here but (as this IS part of life, albeit just a small one) also in other parts of his life.
I say we have to challenge such attitudes as we find them, for the good of society in general, which is why I am so against Billy_Bonka and his ilk. I am leaving the site as I cannot believe there is such a laissez-faire attitude to those people who represent all that is bad about society today - want want want, without any give, give, give.
Please, those who give answers so readily, seriously think about what messages you are giving such people. "It is far better to give than to receive", we need to be saying to Billy_Bonka and his 'me' counterparts, before society dies a death and chaos results. Thankyou for your time. Goodbye.
