I think that we are in Shropshire and that the first hill is the Wrenkin, but having problems with the Hill fort.
Is it Caradoc Hill or one of the Burfs.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have a copy of the crossword but it is the Wrekin not
Wrenkin.I am sitting looking at it at the moment !
Have a look at http://www.virtuallyhistorical.com/downloads/1 007_The%20Berth%20Iron%20Age%20Hill%20Fort%204 .htm

I am sure it is (and have submitted) The Wrekin. The only fort I could find that fitted the clue was Caer Caradoc. Best of luck!

Thanks Top Cat. I was thinking Caradoc, but it is not exactly the correct height. I am not thinking of going to measure it- so will submit that. Best of luck to you too.

Caer Caradoc is quoted as 459 metres. 1505 ft is 458.724 metres so I'm going for that.
