Seven and a half seconds

I am assuming that each "strike" takes little or no time, so that all we are measuring are the time intervals between strikes.

Striking 3 creates only two intervals (totalling 3 seconds), that is 1.5 seconds per interval. Striking 6 would have 5 intervals (= 7.5 seconds in all).
