Many thanks both - I'd had elians as a possible but couldn't find it is any dictionary. As soon as I googled Charles Lamb, which I should have done earlier, it became obvious.

Got the last one now as well (6D) - but the only place I can find it is in the Scrabble Book of Words, and on a scrabble tournament web site. Are there words invented for Scrabble?

Etaerios.....soir+eat+e < is in Chambers so it's not only a scrabble word. Regards K
