If Fred sends X stamps, then Jenny ends up with (X/4 + 7) of them - which is also equal to X/3.
Hence X satisfies the linear equation X/4 + 7 = X/3
Multiply through by 12 and you're home and dry! (X = 84)

smouse I find nothing sad in liking mathematics. It uses parts of the brain that other disciplines can't reach!
