Help, please! Last one and need to get finished. Have seen this answered in Food and Drink but not sure if it is right.Turnip lantern? I'd go for something pumpkin?

We all had turnip lanterns as children. Pumpkins are a relatively new concept from the US.

P...
"orange pumpkin" registers 143,000 hits on the web, whereas "turnip lantern" registers only 1,690. Strictly speaking, we USE a pumpkin ( to make a lantern) but a "turnip lantern" is the finished article (so to speak).

Whenever there are several feasible answers, I tend to list them all - but make it clear which is my preferred option!

Think will go for turnip lantern now others agree.
agree with you, Crofter, we use a turnip lantern as the finished article and it does say used at Halloween
