Tel GK/Herculis Links Game November Week 3
101 Answers
Do you feel lucky ? Or inspired ?
Can you guess Monday's links given saturday's shaded solutions ?
Noboday has managed 4 out of 4 yet, could this be the week, and might you be the one ?
We have an excellent scoring system designed by crofter ( who can trace his family tree all the way back to Pythagoras ).
But if you are new to the game don't worry you can enter today and still have a chance of 'glory'.
If the first person to solve the LINKS on Saturday AM could post the FOUR LINK WORDS here so everyone can get started.
Thanks very much and good luck to all. :)

( with apologies to WS for HAMLET'S SOLILOQUY)
Never has there been such a stone-cold favourite since the tortoise and the hare had a rumble down in the forest, or Goliath was insulted by the shepherd boy - what an upstart! To date only 10 entries strayed outside the TOWER HAMLETS safety zone. It looks so obvious that it MUST be the link(?)
I count 61 entries at this point in time - including 7 new comers. Welcome to you all!
I didn't know that there were so many victories, angles and towels! Most eye-catching was PYRRHIC victory, towelLING (clever) and Tower GOURD? What devious minds there are out there!
I noticed that joint leader (ontarioice) went back to his entry to add an "S". Remember that the "Plural Rule" always applies and, for example, "Towel RAIL" and "Towel RAILS" are equivalent!
Note also that crofter made an error entering his words (as others did) and went back to correct his first entry. These corrections are permitted and the score sheet will automatically invalidate the first entry in such cases.
Hence the only second entries of millimollly and burgess3334 will stand as valid. In similar mode, if anyone crosses paths with Arabesque in the next few hours let them know that one of their entires (RAILWAY) is invalid. The link word was TOWEL - not RAIL. Anyone crossing paths with Blockhead let them know that ONE word prediction is not enough! ('nuff said!)
My assessment? Not as easy as it looks. Even with TOWER as a banker, there were 5 or 6 fancied options for each of the other three link words. That should lead us to about 200 feasible solutions - and there only 61 of us chasing the glory!
The very best of British (and Canadian) to you all!

This was a better week for predictive purposes as there were no big surprises with the Links, which were:
Victory PARADE
TOWER Hamlets
Towel RAIL
Angle POISE
There no perfect scores (of 4 out of 4) but three entrants came very close with 3 out of 4. These were as follows:
teacher1 and pixiecarta (who both lacked POISE) and a late entry from addict (who failed to come up on the RAIL).
These three deserve our CONGRATULATIONS as the star ABers of the week!
As for the scoring system applied to this round, the top scorer was sarumite with his TWO early hits on PARADE and TOWER - netting him two bonus points (taking him to 4 points for the round). This shows the virtue of getting in some good quality predictions as early as possible!
The other two bonus points also went on the first page with RAIL picked up by Tenter and the devious POISE picked up by the equally devious rogerr.
So the top scorers for the round were:
4: sarumite
3: addict pixiecarta teacher1 Tenter (two hits + one bonus)
2: 15 following close behind!
How is the month shaping up? Our previous joint leaders have been overtaken. Ontarioice has (once again ) failed to add to his excellent start and yelsel picked up one more (precious point) to keep him in contention. We fully understand that there are problems with time differences here and we thank O-ice for his continuing high spirits.
The November Stakes now read:
6: sarumite
5: addict gen2 Magyar rogerr yelsel
4: five more in this chasing pack!
All but one of those listed under 5 points have been scoring every week at a steady rate. Well done!
One more week to go! Who will cross the finish line ahead of the rest?

Thank you for all your efforts crofter. I don't know how you manage it - I certainly couldn't. I must apologise for entering my links more than once - I didn't realise there were more than one page of entries and I thought my entry had disappeared somewhere. You have enough work to do without my mistakes - so sorry about that.
If you were wondering where I dredged up TOWEL GOURD
I found it in an American dictionary. It is the
same as sponge gourd which is similar to a loofah. I don`t
get to a computer until after 6pm so thought I`d go for unusual links as I will never be in first.May have to change my strategy.
Many thanks for all your hard work.

Congratulations to all who won this week and to yelsel for still hanging in there.
I did say to crofter that the higher one is up the ladder the longer the fall down, and down I fell. Still, it's good fun ain't it?
As a matter of interest I did wonder why most folks were giving 'Tower Hamlets' as their answer. I finally Googled it and found out.
Much appreciation, one again, to crofter who spends his precious time keeping score and to shamrockblue for introducting this very popular competition.
Remember folks, there's another week to go so don't relax just yet - I might have four correct next week plus a bonus!!!!! (And pigs might fly too had they wings).
Greetings from O-ice who is staring out, this morning, at our first snowfall of the season. Brrrrrrr.
