Can you predict Monday's Herculis Link words , given Saturday's shaded solutions ? All are welcome to enter, whether it's your first punt or you're a seasoned campaigner.
Hello to all Links game competitors, an exciting weekend in store as we reach the climax of our first monthly championship.
Sarumite currently sits proudly at the top pf the table, closely followed by ; addict ; gen2 ; Magyar ; rogerr and yelsel. With a whole host of others in hot pursuit.

Will Ontarioice scupper everyone with a transatlantic challenge, leading to a ceremonial burning of the original LINKS GAME rules and the transportation of those Ashes in a terracotta urn across the pond to Canada ?

I think it's fair to say that anyone could still snatch top prize with a Five Star performance this weekend.

All to play for then, as Crofter burns the midnight oil with logarithms, slide rules, and a home made super computer on which to calculate all your scores.

If the first person to solve the LINKS could post them here in the morning as usual.......and let play commence !
Thanks and the very best of luck to you all. :)

Thank you crofter and ShamrockBlue for organising this fun contest. We'll all have to refine our strategies for next month. In particular, I'll have to get more in touch with the youth culture - I didn't even know there was</i?> a game called Fable until I googled it just now!

Congratulations to sarumite and the others who came so close (jan, magyar and tenter).
Many thanks for the hard work crofter and shamrock.
congratulations to sarumite. It has made the weekend so much more interesting.
cheers jan

CANUCKS BEATEN IN GK OLYMPICS.
After being thoroughly trounced the Canucks were the first to congratulate the winner and the runners-up and were actually seen, as the winners stood on the podium, lustily singing the National Anthem.
In a rare interview the synchonised Canadian pair of O-ice1 and O-ice2 admitted there had been quarrelling in the camp this month over who should take the lead in the games, but they promised to clean up their act prior to any further participation.
In typical Canadian fashion they extended the hand of friendship through cyberspace and congratulated Sarumite on a stunning victory. They also extended congrats to the runners-up Jan, Magyar and Tenter.
They would also like to thank the promotor Shamrockblue whose efforts pulled in so many contenders. They also thanked the the judge, jury, and scorer Messrs Crofter, Crofter and Crofter whose help was invaluable and who neatly closed the games for this the month of November 2006.
Shamrock Blue & Crofter....Thank you both for inventing this game and then supervising it week after week. I know that it entails a lot of time and effort. I have been singularly unsuccessful, but have enjoyed trying to second guess MM, and looking forward to December 'hope springs eternal....'
Congratulations to Sarumite
Congratulations sarumite, and thanks crofter for a most interesting comp.
Just got in to see the months results.
Congratulations Sarumite on your win.
Thanks! The effort is worth it ,when it is appreciated.

teacher1 I noted that you scored 4 points over just two weeks! I look forward to seeing how you do over four weeks and when you've got the measure of the Game!

Just wanted to say cheers for all your comments , much appreciated.
I've been delighted that the game has proved so popular and that's down to all of you for embracing the idea.
Crofter of course is due maximum doffage of cap for his intelligent and dilligent work.
Now with just the hint of a tear in my eye i'm going to have to stand down as " The name above the door", due to other commitments. But can do so knowing that the game is in good health and will I imagine go from strength to strength.
Good luck to you all, I've really enjoyed it. :)
:o(
Congratulations Sarumite...and I endorse the thanks to ShamrockBlue and Crofter...the weekends won't be the same again!!!

Let's just see what materialises!
Congratulation Sarumite, it's not too bad being beaten on goal difference. Need to get my shooting boots on for next month though.

May I also add my thanks to Crofter and Shamrock Blue for 'inventing' what has proved to be an extremely popular aside to the Telegraph link words. Have a happy 'retirement' Shamrock Blue and I hope you're going to continue the fun Crofter.
That's what I have in mind!
I already have a small select group of AB friends who will need to continue helping me along!

I would hope that I can still provide the summaries on Sunday evening and Monday morning - as well as maintain the scoresheets.
Hi Shamrockblue, I dearly hope the "other commitments" aren't health related. You have surely started something that is in the true spirit of answerbank. lol
Barbara
ShamrockBlue, I'm really sorry to hear of your pending retirement from the management side of our weekly links entertainment. Little did we realise a few weeks ago what a huge success this aside would prove to be ... thanks initially to yourself and then of course to crofter with the added excitement of the points awards.

I trust we will now see your own weekly entries into the competition, and wouldn't it be fitting if you were to become the first ABer to guess all 4 correct links!

I have been truly overwhelmed by all the good wishes following my good fortune in being awarded the "Stars" for November ... the ABers using the Q&P section of this site truly are a good-hearted bunch of individuals.

Best wishes (S).
Would just like to add how much I enjoyed the "press release" from Ontarioice above ... and let's hope these friendly Canucks are able to get their house in order in time for the December Games !! (S).

Thanks again for your comments all , and I agree that this forum is very special in that very rarely is there the petty arguments and strife i've witnessed in other forums. It is very supportive and a pleasure to be a part of.
Health is fine Barbara ( as far as I know anyway ! ) thank you for your concern.
Sarumite you mentioning stars has reminded me that I didn't award you yours for being November champion, so I shall do that now as my last act as ( whatever it is i do ) on the Links game, and it's fitting because you've been a great supporter from day 1.
Cheers :)
Congratulations to sarumite and many thanks to crofter for organising the competition.

I am delighted to be able to report that sarumite (our worthy winner) has agreed to assume the duties of ShamrockBlue and launch the Prediction Game on Friday night/ Saturday morning. So business as usual!

Sincere good wishes to the departing SB and hopefully we shall see him participate with four predictions on a regular basis!

Let it be known that both sarumite and myself will be participating every week on a taking-no-prisoner basis!
May I add my thanks to all concerned for this wonderful addition to the weekend . And Full Marks go to Sarumite( for winning ) for agreeing to continue the running of it . I do appreciate what you are doing as it must be a very difficult job .Take care Shamrock Blue and hope to see you around this site from time to time .
