Can I deduce from the various clues that you're from down under?
When you asked for "16d" you were assuming that I have sight of the actual crossword - NOT so!
This is generally the case. The best thing to do is to give the clue and there should be someone on hand to try to give you an answer!

Hi crofter, yes I'm from 'the colonies' and I'm afraid I assumed that you had seen/done the Sunday GK from last week
So far the painting is going OK - at least I'm really pleased with the colour - have made some choices before which haven't turned out so well. How can anyone tell with a scrap of paper

Don't be "afraid" - we're pleased to have you on board! You give AB an intrernational flavour. The Canadiian O-ice is already a great favourite on the Herculis Link Game (Did I catch sight of YOUR name in there?)
What were the clues? You were up at some unearthly hour - this gives your location an east /west shift on the globe. You were talking of house painting. For the paint to dry you need to be in the southern hemisphere (where it is now approaching Summer). That implies that you are probably antipodean.
From your chosen name (seekeerz) there are overtones of "The Seekers" which suggests the you are Australian but have (in the not too distant past) immigrated from the UK (you still value ties with the motherland).
You did not originate from the south of the UK (you are prepared to pick up a paint brush - not an ESSEX GIrl). You are quite accomplished with a paintbrush (otherwise your help would not be required). In the home, you are treated as an equal (at the very least). I deduce this because you are confident enough to go on AB whilst your husband is painting!

Dear crofter, what a lovely letter to find on my computer this morning - I can just picture you in your deerstalker and pipe !!!
and several of your sleuthing answers are right on the money
- yes I'm from down-under, South Oz to be precise, and my name is derived with the Seekers in mind however I was born and bred in Australia [shouldn't that be the other way around?]
and so far have not even managed a visit to the UK.
I believe that many of my values stem from my family and also from the fact that I'm married to a Wiltshire lad and have been for over 40 years so there is a strong link there.
The painting is going along nicely, we're trying to finish two rooms before Christmas when our daughter will come home for a few days -[ she lives and works in Melbourne] and I find that extra hands make light work so will be pitching in again shortly [when the muttering down the hall gets to a certain level that I can't ignore any longer]
But I love to use my mind as much as I can - yes you did see my name amongst the Herculis list, for the first time, I've seen posts about the comp before but not followed it through to read the link words, but this time I'm in there.
I've 'met' Ontarioice previously and he/she seems delightful and I know of 'mohill' from NZ, so there's quite a far flung element to AB.
We have a weekly Crossquiz here on Saturday which is a breeze compared to the Weekly Telegraph and then there is the Generalist [WOW!!!] that really makes me work, but I cannot do cryptics to save my life and wish I had access to more gk puzzles.
I do need glasses to read so am no spring chicken, my daughter will be 40 in a couple of years so there's a very broad hint, along with the number of years we've been married - [to my husband I mean, not my daughter lol lots] and as you can see my sense of humour is a little wacky - I don't feel my age, people tell me I don't look my age
