As most of you are sadly aware, Michael Mepham died suddenly on Thursday aged just 62. His ingenuity and dedication in continually turning out general knowledge crosswords and other puzzles of the highest quality has to be highly commended, and the end results have considerably enriched the lives of many people.
Numerous tributes have already been posted by ABers within the site, indicating how highly we valued his work, and our sincere sympathy is directed towards his wife and children, at a time of the year when most of us are conversely involved in celebration.
Whilst at times we may have questioned minor anomalies within the crosswords, there was always a great quality and diversity within the puzzles, whilst the answers remained readily obtainable with sufficient research.
As Paul21455 so aptly said in his personal tribute "Nobody except my Mrs. made me think as much as he did"!!
We are not at present certain what the immediate plans are in respect of future Saturday GK and Herculis crosswords, but meanwhile it is considered that we should continue with our normal predictions of the link words as a tribute to the man known simply (and I think fondly) as MM on answerbank.
Let us be thankful for the many hours of entertainment he has provided for us over a number of years, and continue with our competition which this week should be dedicated "TO THE MEMORY OF MICHAEL MEPHAM ".
sarumite, That is the first that I had heard about MM.
Like all of you others, I feel saddened at the loss, and also send my prayers to his family.
RIP MM
What a shock to read that - it's so sad - especially at this time of year, I know from personal experience.
Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time, I'm sure.
Yes, only just seen the news about MM. Heartfelt prayers to his family and greatful thanks for all the wonderful competitions of his that I and so many others have enjoyed taking part in.
