I hope that I'm not being too critical, and perhaps things will improve in due course.

I agree with sarumite - most of the clues very mundane. Will give it a few weeks but if it does not improve will have to change paper. Only buy it for the crosswords!!
Must admit I had never heard of idle worms either.
Merry Christmas to all. Very quiet on here this morning - everyone doing last minute shopping!

Late on line today. Went out to get the turkey, turned out I'd have been quicker going to Turkey!
I'm also a Crossword only purchaser. Already dropped Monday's following the demise of the Heculis and, if this is the standard, Saturday's will follow suite quite quickly.
I can't really agree with Hardy49 about giving them a chance. This is an insult to MM! Speaking of whom very surprised that there has been no announcement at http://www.michaelmepham.com
I might copy these responses and send them to the letters e-mail.

Easy does it -

This is Michael Mepham Editorial Services - MM's own business online site. MM seemed to be a owner/ business proprietor wothout others.
Hardly, likely to be the priority of his widow and family to post messages on this Site ... a) they may not know how to access the Site; b) they may have made no decision about business continuity / selling the business / goodwill etc.
Sure, the Puzzle is very disappointing, BUT it is obviously not an MM puzzle, and is a 'quick fix'.
When the creative talent has left, unlikely to see similar BUT maybe (in time) the DT will find another good compiler.
Doesn't half make you appreciate what a lot of pleasure MM gave many ABers.
... and, when an ABer or two emailed him (with a moan) MM took it in good spirit and would always 'hold up his hand' if he had erred. Too few of his ilk around, today.
