Just a one off for anyone having withdrawl symptoms ! These are my own Links so you know where to direct annoyance !
I guess you just have to decide whether they are as benign as they appear. Will post solution around 9 PM tomorrow ( that's if anyone enters of course )
Merry Christmas to you all and Good Luck for 2007.

I like ChrisHewat's suggestion too, that we take it in turns to set our own links game each week. I'm up for it, if you can get enough interested and crofter's willing to use his statistical genius with the answers. Anyway here's my attempts:

Happy Christmas to fellow AB'ers and all the best for 2007.

Cheers all for your responses and generous comments.
Chris Hewat's idea of having a rota of Link Setters sounds very good.
Crofter you are a saint !
Just a suggestion , I was thinking as all the hard work falls on your shoulders, you should set the start and finish times for the competition , at times which are best for you.

The state of play so far is that THREE of the link words have already been guessed, but not all four and not three by the same person. So there's still everything to play for!
A way forward is starting to take shape! Each week we can have a volunteer Link Setter, who declares four starting words, for which they have already chosen the four Links. In view of the fact that they are not eligible to play for that week, it might be better if the Link Setter operates over an entire four-week spell.
And how should they be selected? By coming first and top scorer in the previous month! If that winner has already been a Link Setter (or declines the "honour") then the next runner-up is offered the poisoned chalice!
Thoughts and views are welcome at the stage.
We have until Saturday 6th January 2007 to get ourselves a plan of action!

Crofter, assuming that you are once again prepared to assume the honorary position of "chief cook and bottlewasher", this proposal certainly gets my vote as an ideal replacement for the Herculis Links.
It even has the added incentive that the winners of the monthly competition are given the chance to become even more fully involved with the subsequent game.
