Hello again! It's a new year &, as ever, I'm stuck on the last two!

50ac 'Approve measure taken against offending country?' (8) ?A?C?E?N Only word I can find to fit is pancheon & can't make any sense of that. HELP!!

I'd gone & put an e instead of an i in divine. Can't think how I came to do that, but sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can spot things, so thank you. The Ring in erring was obvious but I still can't arrive at an explanation for the rest of the clue.

it was Der Ring Des Nibelungen - remove the 'd' from the first two words
