3. Septembriser?
This should be Septembrizer - an anagram of breeziest and PMR (paymaster). A septembrizer is a grouse shooter (game gun).

2. Brae
5. Canal. Anagram of a clan, and a cut is a canal.I think Glenmore is a Canal which joins the Caledonian Canal. Is this a Scottish crossword?

A brae is a river bank; a bra is a support (!), not too sure about the e.
No 1. People fits in (family) but cannot see the France connection.
