Sounds like PG Wodehouse
Which would be Clarence Threepwood Earl of Emsworth and his pig the Empress of Blandings.
The pig is mentioned in several of the Blandings Castle books so can't narrow it down to a particular title but it could be Pigs Have Wings becuase she had already won two prizes by then and was going for a third.
