2 Answers
at a recent local quiz a t or f question was: the canary bird took its name from the canary islands.
i put falase always thinking it came via the roman name of canas or dog.
i looked up on various sites and a couple did indeed state it came from the berber language for a canary.
can anyone add to my findings
