61. I looked in my ( slightly out of date ) Guide Michelin for towns in France beginning with K.
The only ones mentioned are:
Kayserberg ( with Kientzheim) population 2,755
Kilstett - pop 1406
Kruth - pop 976
Kutzenhausen pop 740
I wondered if they were spelling Colmar ( pop 63,500) the german way with a K - but that didn't look any more hopeful.
Or if they are confusing a town with the arms manufacturer Krupp.
Hello Kettledrum,yes some have been cryptic,others were quite straightforward.But I think the K one has to be a metal, as there is no metal in the question.

I have no idea kettledrum - waiting for marycroft to clarify. Al might count as the symbol for Aluminium (and K for potassium). I don't see any metals in the questions.
