For the last week of my personal selections, my chosen LINKS are as follows:
Short CIRCUIT
STAND(ING) Tall
Narrow ESCAPE
BroadCAST
As usual, the competition was launched promptly at 9.00 to be met with the equally traditional cascade of entries. The very first "HIT" was registered at 9.04, when ulysses100 predicted correctly "Narrow ESCAPE". Only seconds later came rogerr "STANDING Tall" and picking up the second bonus point for picking off the second Link Word.
Six minutes and five entries later, in came a live wire to "SHORT CIRCUIT" the process. This was "a real wind up" (anag) who is better known as paulineward (Dame of the OAB). "Short Circuit" fell and Dame Pauline became two points richer.
The last link word held out for almost an hour when (at 9.58) newcomer Littleowl chanced her arm with BROADCAST and picked up the last of the bonus points. Each of those named above will score two points for spotting a link word and being the first to do so.
Only one person was able to score two points by spotting two links without their carrying bonus points. That "person" was our Canadian friends, Ont-ice.
This was a difficult round with many options to choose from and (for one reason or another) I would like to name all four as "Stars of the ROUND". Before I deal with other matters, let me explain that I compile my list one week in advance. I then have one last look on Thursday for second thoughts. During this session last week, I decided to remove at that time the words NORFOLK Broad (too parochial) and Short SHRIFT (too obscure).
Special mention (but no extra points) goes out to ChrisHewat who first predicted SHRIFT and also to Gravi82mud who had the courage to follow his lead!
All in all a challenging round with low scores, but lots of fun!

No best answer has yet been selected by crofter. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.

The new kids on the block, gravy-something and something- sago, look OKay . A healthy mix of zany humour and deranged mentality. They'll fit in well!
What luck to find them so soon after finding DUSTYBUN!!

Congratulations to the scorers and thank you crofter for running it. I think I'll have to change my strategy next month and go with my initial thoughts rather than looking for answers others haven't given. It also looks as if I'll have to start camping out in the shrubbery - can I book an alarm call for next week?
There I was, hopping about by the shrubbery, freezing my bits off, and you're all over here by the woodpile - thanks Gen2 for directing me here. It was getting a bit lonely on the last thread, not to mention that curiosity was killing this pussycat. Is this a new thread then? I was expecting the results to be tacked onto the end of the question... Confused green newbie here... !
I have a sparkling nil points, but am chuffed to have had a mention for getting one that Crofter almost used - LOL!! That's probably as close as I'll get!
Thanks so much for making me welcome. I shall be jostling by the shrubbery next Saturday

Gravit8
hey, Gravit8 are you sure you're really a greenie or an old hand in disguise ?? you're doing a great job of fitting in with the gentle 'lunacy' that goes on around here - there will be a new posting for the KM Links game later today, when some kind soul posts the Monday results and I do some 'whizz kid' things with scoring - fact that I can't count hasn't dawned on anyine yet - should be fun !! S
Yippeeeeee!
I can't believe I've won. I had a quick look last night, but couldn't find the answers, so left it 'til this morning.
Thank you all so much for your kind words, I am so chuffed.
The only downside is that as "Queen" for the month, I won't be able to play. The upside is I won't have to camp out in the shrubbery for 4 weeks!
I hope you will like my links and that they are up to the standard that crofter has set.
Thanks again
Barbara

Now wasn't that a bit of fun and nonsense to round off the weekend? Hope you enjoyed partaking. We look forward to hearing from you again next week. Remember, you're in good company - lots of zeros flying around. Take a look at my score in the KM competition. You win some, you lose some, and then there was the idiot who said, 'It's how you play the game." Obviously never played MM links or KM links.
Cheers O-ice

Hi B
Well, unfortunately (or fortunately if we're to be sent to the tower) we will only be having one go in your February MM links as we are off to the sun and will be away for two weeks, but three Saturdays - 10th, 17th and 24th.
Will definitely check up on your choices when we return.
Hope you enjoy your reign as queen. Always bear in mind, though, that several queens in history have been beheaded. Well, you were the first to mention the tower!!!!!
Meantime Long Live Queen Barbara.

evsajo I think the predictions are incidental to the real part of the Link Games which is the social side of things. You are very welcome to give as good as you get!
Next month you will have four weeks to fathom out just what makes rogerr tick! Then the February champion sets the links in March and so on.
Ont-ice with all your talk about "free fall" did you notice the new name "Gravit82mud" can be seen as a Dingbat for "Gravitate to Earth"! ?
