cosmology

I googled your word and it suggested I meant cosmology
Cosmology.
I'm going for cosmology, but cosmogony also fits, and is defined as "investigation of the origin of the world".

Have googled again (correct spelling this time - apologies) and Wikipedia seems to suggest that cosmogony looks at the naturalistic aspects moreso than cosmology. Where does that leave us. I think I'm in favour of ogony.
I have found this in -

http://www.answers.com

Cosmology -
The study of the physical universe considered as a totality of phenomena in time and space.
The astrophysical study of the history, structure, and constituent dynamics of the universe.
Field of study that brings together the natural sciences, especially astronomy and physics, in an effort to understand the physical universe as a unified whole.

Cosmogony -
The astrophysical study of the origin and evolution of the universe.
Cosmogony can be distinguished from cosmology, which studies the universe at large and throughout its existence, and which technically does not inquire directly into the source of its origins. There is some ambiguity between the two terms,

still not clear to me, but just going to opt for cosmogony!!

Thank you all for your contributions. Have now looked even further and even more undecided. Maybe I'll toss a coin.
at least it's 50/50, or is it? Good luck whatever your decision.
The clue specifically includes the origin, which seems to eliminate cosmology. I shall stick with it, however - if only because it's easier to say.
This is one Michael Mepham would have been proud of!
